Q: Is a teacher allowed to look through my phone in the UAE?

Q: Hello, My child has been refused admission to a French school in Dubai, two years in a row, in Pre-KG (first-class) where all nationalities can apply, because he is a Saudi citizen and the school gives priority to French and Emirates citizens. The director clearly says it is based on nationality because this year we were amongst the first ones to apply. The UAE government does not differentiate between UAE citizens and GCC citizens (Saudis) giving them free education in public schools to be non-discriminatory between locals and GCC citizens. KHDA regulating private schools can speak to the school but cannot enforce the admission because it is the school's internal policy. How is it possible to be bluntly discriminated against two years in a row? Can we legally sue the school for being discriminatory and also can an internal policy be contradictory to government laws/constitutional laws etc? Thank you!

Q: Hi, I was notified as terminated by my company on 04/Feb/2021 after 5 years. I have a limited contract under JAFZA. The reasons for termination as per the termination letter is due to my unaccepted management style. My termination came after raising a complaint against the management to the HQ for being discriminated against. As per the termination letter, the notice period is 2 months Garden Leave per the contract, 2 months termination compensation and my EOS. I filed a complaint against them to claim 3 months termination compensation instead of 2, my full bonus and the unused leave balance in lieu. Currently, I am in my home country after I have informed them. So my questions are, Is there any risk that my employer can report me as absconded? The court fees are calculated based on the total unpaid values, or only the additional values I am requesting? For the bonus, is it likely to be paid based on article 1 of the UAE labour law that defines the wage as whatsoever paid on a regular basis? Thanks, A.

Q: Dear Lawyers, If a student's backpack is found in a bathroom stall in Dubai, is it legal for a teacher to take the bag to their office and thoroughly search it without the student knowing where their bag is? Additionally, if a vape is found in the bag, are they allowed to use it as evidence, considering it was discovered in that manner? There was also no suspicion of the student, other than the bag being found in the bathroom.
