How to lodge a complaint against domestic violence
Hello Sir,
2 yrs back I married an Indian guy who is living in Sharjah from 27yrs. After our marriage, I was living with him and his family. Due to domestic violence and mental harassment 3 months back he left me in India and get my passport with him.
So, can I file a complaint against him in Sharjah police station and what will they do?
Please advise me.

Dear Mam,
I feel really sorry for you that you have faced these kind of situations, but on the other hand, I also feel that you are just in the right direction. The person who has treated you badly by causing mental harassment and violence must be behind the bars.
If you are here in UAE, there are 2 steps to lodge a complaint:
1. You should go to the police station and must lodge a complaint against him. Upon lodging a complaint the local police will transfer the case to the Public Prosecution. Thereafter, Public Prosecution will look into the matter and if there will be sufficient evidence supporting your complaint, your case will be opened.
2. You may directly approach the Public Prosecution and lodge a complaint there itself. Here, the Public Prosecution will directly initiate an investigation and upon finding the truthfulness of the complaint, your case will be opened.
I will prefer going with the second step.
If you are in India, then is such case you have to provide us with the Power of Attorney to open the case.
