Q: In March 2020, my tenancy contract was over but could not renew as I was stuck in India during the lockdown. In Aug, when I returned, I couldn't pay rent and renew my contract so I left the flat in September, after which the real estate filed a case against me. Q: Dear sir/madam, I was not aware of the 90 days prior information to be provided to the landlord and neither the agency told me about it while signing the contract. It is nowhere mentioned on the contract that I should notify 90 days prior to the end of the contract term. I did inform them 26 days before vacating and then the agency told me that I should have informed them 90 days prior and now there will be a penalty. After having back and forth emails with our landlord's agency, on 23/2/21 we received the final email about his decision from the agency. As I did not want to stay in his place, we moved out on 6/3/21. On 14/3/21, we received a quotation from the agency in regards to maintenance, which we mutually accepted on 15/03/21. 2 days ago, when I was waiting for my security deposit, I received a final calculation from the agency charging me the period between 15/2 to 5/3 as overstay. We reminded him many times of the rules and regulations but he does not care.
