The commencement date to be considered after delaying the issuance of the work visa
Hello madam,
Good afternoon!
Currently, I am working and living in Ras al Khaimah, in an interior cleaning company under 2 years contract. I started working under this company on October 9th 2019. I was on a visit visa at that time and the same date was on the offer letter given to me by the company.
They delayed applying for my work visa and the labour card. They applied for my work visa and labour card on 6th January 2020 and now they are saying that I have to work as per my labour card which is expiring on Jan 5, 2022.
But as per my offer letter, my 2 years contract has already finished. Please advise me what I can do. Do I have to work as per my labour card or should I stop working as I have another job but my company is still not giving me cancellation?

Dear questioner,
First of all, you are not supposed to work for anyone when you are on a visit visa. This is as per the laws of this country.
Further, an employer-employee relationship commences from the day of signing the employment contract or from the day employee entered the country under the company's sponsorship.
Hence, legally speaking, the date given as per the labor card is the commencement date and expiry of your employment tenure and not the date given in the offer letter.
