Q: Hello, I was having a criminal case going on in Dubai court for the last 10 months and the case was filed by my employer regarding data theft but now the judgement has come up in my favour. I would request you to help me regarding whether I can file a compensation case against my employer. I was working in this organization for the last 3.5 years and resigned in Jan 2019, but they stopped employing me in the middle of the notice period. They told me that they will cancel my visa and clear outstanding dues. But it didn't happen and then I filled a labour case and won. But in March 2019 they filed a criminal case and the judgement has come in this month as innocent from the first instance court. I was jobless for the last 1.5 years and I'm totally defamed in the market and can't get a new job. Please advise whether I can file a civil compensation claim to cover my liability and wastage of money due to this case.

Q: Due to the harassment, I left the job and return to India without informing my company as if I told them they will not let me leave. But now they filed a case in the UAE that I have stolen AED 20000 from the company, and they also filed a case in India. Q: Hello Sir, I worked in a private organization in Dubai. I canceled my visa 10 months back. During my visa cancellation, I didn't get my end-of-service settlement. My original settlement amount was 108k, but after negotiation, they offered me 52K and gave me a letter stating they owe me 52K for my pending salary and end of service benefits. But after my cancellation, they always said that they will clear my dues shortly. I waited for 10 months, then I filed a labor complaint. During the amicable discussion with MOHRE, my owner said that he will not pay me because I made a financial loss to the company. I didn't make any loss to the company. Can he make any fake documents to show his loss against me? Kindly advise on how should I approach the court to solve my problem.

Q: My boss started a company in Abu Dhabi. It's a limousine company (100% owned by a local and he rented the license). Suddenly he got a travel ban and he made me the manager of the company and I give him a signed blank company cheque. After Covid, I was in India and couldn't come to the UAE, he has to pay money to the sponsor (Kafeel) for sponsorship and other expenses (he didn't pay one employee's salary so the latter made a complaint, and the sponsor paid in labor court, because my boss not paying). He didn’t pay the sponsor and the company got fined. One of the other employees is helping him and that employee stole the passports of other employees and is not returning them. So the sponsor made a case against that employee. Once I reached the UAE, he bounced the cheque and made a criminal case against me for revenge. The police caught me and I got bail. After 1 year procedure, I closed the criminal case then I went for my visa. I have one civil case too. He made a civil execution case for a cheque bounce against me and the company sponsor. He put the wrong address purposefully.

This Law promulgates the Federal Penal Code (Criminal Law) of the United Arab Emirates. Crimes and chastisement punishments shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of this Law and other penal codes.

The provisions of this Law, known as "UAE Labour Law", govern the relationship between employers and employees and other labour matters in the United Arab Emirates. There are special labour related regulations applicable in some of the free zones in the UAE.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
