The expected penalty for the possession and use of psychotropic substances
Dear Lawyers,
Greetings!
My husband was detained in Muraqqabat police station because of the possession and use of psychotropic substances. He was detained on December 10, 2019, but until now, his case is under investigation.
He had already a criminal case number but we are still waiting for the judgment for us to know what the fine and punishment will be. Can anyone here help me or provide any idea about the fine and punishment?
Some of my friends told me that he will get deported and fined for around 10,000 AED. Is this possible?
Hope I can find an answer, it will really help me a lot.
Thank you!
Dear questioner,
Based on the criminal law of the UAE, your husband will be entitled to get a judgment for penalty fine and deportation.
But, If he would like to stay in the UAE, we can defend him until the end of the case, because nobody knows how much weight he had?
How they caught him? Where they caught him? Who was with him? Did they found any rest in his blood or not? What is the rate in his blood? Did he use that for medication or not?
According to the above, we can release his deportation during our defense.
If you agree with the above, you can email us for more information.
Thank you!

Dear Madam,
Greetings,
We can help to attend to the police station and inquire about the police case number for your husband and submit a defense.
The case will end with jail from 3 months to 1 year (average) and he will be deported from the UAE. The case may be nominated as trading if the amount on his position is bigger than the personal use. It all depends on the case merits on the police case file.
