A company demands half of the visa cost without contract mention – What Now?

Dear Sir/Madam,

My visa is on a fixed-term contract, and I have completed 15 months. I have worked the 30-day notice period.

My company's offer letter mentions that if I resign early, the company will require me to cover half of the visa cost.

However, my labor contract does not mention the visa cost. Now, my company is asking me to pay half of the visa cost. What should I do?

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.

If your labor contract does not mention any clause regarding the payment of half the visa cost upon early resignation, you may not be legally obligated to pay it.

The terms in your labor contract typically take precedence over those mentioned in an offer letter.

You can complain or raise your concerns with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) if you believe your employer is not following the terms of your labor contract.

You can contact MOHRE and explain your situation to seek their assistance and guidance on how to resolve the issue.

For any further legal assistance, you can WhatsApp us. We have an extensive team of knowledgeable and experienced lawyers to provide the legal assistance you need.

We will be happy to help you.

Thanks & Regards,

ABDUL WAHIED
