Working with a competitor after signing a non-competition agreement

I have a non-competition agreement signed with my previous company. Based on that, I cannot work in the same field or anything related.

I was an office assistant but I was given a title as sales so the agreement can be effective on me.

I want to know, will that agreement get me into trouble if I work with a competitor?

Such a clause in your contract limits you in accepting similar jobs with competitors if it is mentioned in your contract very clearly, with your position in the company, territory of applicability, and limitation in terms of the time.

If the clause is not very accurately and correctly drafted or you are going to pursue any job other than Admin or Sales with your new employer, then you should not worry about such a clause.

If you will do, then you will have to get their written consent. If you wish, we can have a look at your contract and advise you accordingly.

In my labour contract, there is no clause or anything else mentioned except the general details, working hours, basic salary...etc.

However, this non-competition agreement is a separate copy that we signed in the office, where I was given one copy and probably they have another one.

The problem is that I cannot understand the legal language and terms fully in the agreement, and I just want to understand it better.
