Q: My Ex-boss gave me a General POA. He personally owes me AED 300,000 and 12 months of salary as well. One fine day he left the country. I had to file a labour case to get my visa cancelled. Later, the boss told me to take one of his cars (in his personal name) and transfer it to my name and adjust the value of it (AED 25,000) to his personal loan that he owes me. Now, I won my labour case against him and the execution is in process. He has filed a criminal case against me claiming I took the car without his consent. He is doing this through a lawyer as he is not in the country for a year. Will this criminal case affect me? How can I prove my innocence?

Q: Hi, I work in Dubai for six months on an unlimited contract. Then suddenly my employer cut my salary by AED 1000 for the two previous months. I filed a complaint with TASHEEL and transferred it to MOHRE. We already did face-to-face meeting but there's no conciliation. The Local transferred my case to Dubai court. Then my employer suddenly filed a case against me for the loss of money at the company. I already filed the labour case and there is no schedule for hearing between me and the employer. Q: Hi Hari, I am currently working in Abu Dhabi. I had an employment contract with a Dubai company and It has been more than 8 months so far since I resigned. I signed the settlement paper even though my settlement was not made. But I have a mail stating that I am signing this paper for cancellation and still yet to receive my dues. I registered a complaint against my old employer and they are telling me that they will file a criminal case stating that I stole materials, I got a commission from suppliers and subcontractors, which is not true. Q: I was working in a company for around 3.5 years in Dubai in the position of Estimation Engineer. On 22.01.2019 I have submitted my resignation to the company with a one month period till 21.02.2019. but on 12.02.2019, the company didn't allow me to enter the office to work and they told me the company will cancel my visa and settle my outstanding within 2 days. However, in between, I have sent an email to the company twice and called the HR and they didn't respond. They are also not giving my passport to me. I have filed a labour case against the company due to not cancelling my visa and I have got the date of 7th April 19 for the labour court case. Subsequently, the company has filed a criminal case against me for data copy from the company system. I have visited the police station last week and they have recorded my statement. I want to know if I can get my visa cancellation from the labour court while the criminal case is running so that I can join another company to cover my ongoing loans in the UAE and family liability.

Q: My employer suspended me from work because my employer filed an E-crime case against me. He told me my case is under police case and my passport was given to police already. But I'm sure that my passport is still with my employer. Can I still get my passport or wait for the police case to close? Can I still go out of the UAE while having the police case?

Q: My ex-employer filed a case against me that I owe the company 30k AED which is just a made-up story. I filed a case against his company for not giving the correct amount of my gratuity pay and I won the case in the court. Now after the decision, he made up a complaint that I owe them 30k AED which is not true. Now my question is: can I also complain against my ex-employer for making up a story that I owe him 30k AED and doing this to me as harassment? What case can I file against him? The UAE has adopted a major reform in its legislative system that brought about 40 new laws and amendments to the company law, criminal law, personal status, among others. The amendments aim to develop the legislative structure in various sectors, the labor law being one of these, was the most recent. We try in this article to shed light on the changes introduced with the new labor law and their significance on both, the employer and employee.

The provisions of this Law, known as "UAE Labour Law", govern the relationship between employers and employees and other labour matters in the United Arab Emirates. There are special labour related regulations applicable in some of the free zones in the UAE.

This Law promulgates the Federal Penal Code (Criminal Law) of the United Arab Emirates. Crimes and chastisement punishments shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of this Law and other penal codes.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
