How can I resolve a travel ban with an expired passport and a bounced check case?
Q: Hello, I have a civil case for a bounced check and a travel ban. My passport has expired and can only be renewed in my home country. Due to the travel ban, it is not possible to exit and renew the passport. With an expired passport, I can`t work. What are the options in this situation? Is my DIFC company violating my rights by firing me without notice?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I have been employed at DIFC since May 1st. They want to fire me without notice, citing a probation period of 3 months, but my contract did not specify a probation period. Among other things, my contract states that I must be notified 1 month in advance. They have now sent me a screenshot from the DIFC portal prescribing 3 months of probation, but this was not in the contract I signed. Where can I dispute recurring deductions by courier company for past shipments?
Q: Dear lawyers, I run a small business in Dubai and use a courier company for delivering goods to customers (with cash on delivery payment). The courier accumulates COD payments and transfers them to us weekly, deducting their delivery charges. We have a renewing one-year contract with fixed shipping rates per kg. Recently, the courier company started making additional deductions for past shipments, which were already shipped and paid for, including: - In November 2023, they deducted approximately 1500 dhs for shipments completed in August and September 2023. - In May 2024, they deducted 3596 dhs for shipments completed from January 2023 to December 2023 (that contract has already expired). Previously, they explained that they "recalculated the parcel weights," but I cannot verify this because the items were shipped a long time ago (last year!). Questions: 1. Q: Dear Lawyers, How to Calculate Jail Terms I have 4 execution cases against a company and want to put the manager in jail. I also have an execution against the manager directly, in his personal capacity. Another creditor has two execution cases against the same company and wants to put the same manager in jail. The other creditor also has an execution case against the same manager, in his personal capacity. Suppose we, two creditors, succeed in getting 6 arrest warrants against this manager since he is the manager of the company. And we also succeed in getting two arrest warrants due to personal execution directly against the manager in his personal capacity. Question 1: Can the same one month in jail be counted against multiple execution cases? Question 2: Can the manager be in jail for 3 months maximum in his role as manager, and then 3 months contiguously in his personal capacity? Question 3: Is it better to stagger the application for arrest warrants, or is it better to apply for all 8 arrest warrants at the same time?2024/06/25
