Is it legal for my employer to withhold my salary until I leave the country or change status?
Hello,
I have given my notice, and my last day is July 24, but the employer is refusing to pay my salary; even the salary for June. Is this even legal?
He claims I'll get everything at once, which is after leaving the country or changing status.

Dear questioner,
The employer shall pay all dues, including end-of-service benefits, before you sign the visa cancellation and clearance papers.
If he is not paying you before you leave the company or if he is not letting you sign the cancellation and clearance papers, then you can file a complaint with MOHRE.
Hello,
It's not legal for your employer to withhold your June salary. Employers are required to pay earned wages in a timely manner, regardless of your employment status.
Your notice period strengthens your case. Their attempt to tie your pay to your departure is not a valid reason.

Dear questioner,
In the situation where an employer is denying to pay the salary for the month of June despite you giving the notice period and your last day being on 24 July, it is important to consider the legal framework in the UAE regarding payment of wages upon termination of employment.
According to the UAE labor laws, an employer is obligated to pay an employee their wages for the work performed, including any accrued salary up to the last working day.
This means that you are entitled to receive your salary for the month of June and any other outstanding payments.
By giving the required notice period as per your employment contract or the applicable labor laws, you have fulfilled your obligation to inform the employer about your intention to leave the job. The employer is still required to pay you for the period worked, including the month of June.
If your employer is refusing to pay your salary for the month of June and any other outstanding dues, you may consider seeking assistance from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) or filing a complaint with the relevant labor authorities to address the non-payment issue.
In light of this, we recommend you get assistance from us in order to advise you and take action and recover all the due payments.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation!
It is not legal for an employer to withhold your salary, even if you have given your notice. According to labor laws, you are entitled to receive your salary for the work you have done, including the salary for June.
You may want to consider reaching out to your employer again to discuss this issue and remind them of your rights.
If they continue to refuse to pay you, you may need to seek legal assistance or contact the relevant labor authorities in your country for further guidance on how to proceed.
It is important to ensure that you receive the salary you are owed before leaving the country or changing your status to avoid any further complications.
Best of luck in resolving this issue, and I hope you are able to receive the wages you are entitled to.
