Can I file a case against a bank for sharing private info with all staff for my credit card application?
Q: I have applied for a credit card with a well-known bank here in Dubai. During the verification course from the bank, they sent my salary certificate to our company`s info at an email address to which half of the staff have access. I have been told by several members of my staff, that they received this email. I am the Deputy CEO of the company and obviously, this is not a light matter. I have contacted the bank and they have offered me vouchers for AED 1000 and then 2000 but I want to press charges for a serious offence and go for punitive damage. I know the latter is not a usual practice in the UAE, but I want to explore my options. I have also informed the Central Bank, but they say I must wait 30 days before proceeding.

Can I file a case against a friend for privacy breach if he claimed I scolded him for his act?
Q: On Jan 2, 2025, one of my close friends did a privacy breach and recorded me and my van in some specific place. On Feb 5, when I called and asked him why he did this to me, he went and gave a complaint that I scolded him and threatened him. The same case was later closed by the PP when we negotiated outside the station and apologized. At this juncture, can I file a privacy breach case against him, which happened on Jan 2, 2025, and on Feb 5 I scolded him only for the privacy breach that happened on Jan 2?

How can I obtain the new Ejari as proof if the owner re-rents the property?
Q: Good afternoon, Ramadan Kareem! The owner of the property I’m renting has sent me an eviction notice so he can sell the property. According to the notice, I am required to leave. My questions are: 1. If the owner rents the property again, how can I obtain the new Ejari as proof that the property has been rented? 2. Do I have the right to ask for compensation? Q: I have a misdemeanor case hearing in misdemeanor circuit court, I`m the complainant (insult over messages) and the accused (insult in public). No witness exists, I may have confessed in a message. Q: Hello, I`m in Canada, and I filed for divorce. My husband, who owns a real estate company in Abu Dhabi, kidnapped our children and took them to the UAE to avoid the divorce and force me back to him. My children are twin boys, 8 years old, and a 10-year-old girl. What can I do? Q: Hello, I am a chartered accountant and a regulated officer in DIFC. Recently, I was forced into a fight (the other party started it), and things escalated. The other party called the police and filed a case against me for fighting and using bad language. The police detained me for a night and released me the next day, informing me that my friend, who was present at the time, and I have a travel ban. The other party is well aware of my position and frequent travel, seemingly trying to blackmail me into lifting the case. Due to my job, I usually travel every 10–15 days, but I have been stuck here for over a month. Can I increase the rent after buying a commercial office if the Ejari contract is valid until 2029?
Q: Hello, I am purchasing a commercial office in the UAE. The current rent for the office is 50K per year. The Ejari contract started on 01-06-2019, is valid for 10 years, and will expire on 31-05-2029. According to the RERA rental index, the fair rent is 150K per year. If someone has a case in the UAE, can they travel to another GCC country?
Q: Hi. One of my friends joined a Telegram group. They said, "We will transfer some amount to your account, and your task is to transfer this amount to another account. Once the task is completed, you will get 30 or 50 AED per task." He completed 3 to 4 tasks, but he realized it was not good, so he stopped. After one week, when he opened his account, it was blocked, and the bank said, "We are conducting an investigation; after this, we will let you know." After some days, he had an accident and went to his home country. He then received a call from a landline number, which was from the Abu Dhabi police station. They said, "We have received a complaint against you; come to our investigation department." However, due to his surgery and treatment, he could not go. After some time, his bank account was reopened, and he did not receive any further calls. I want to know, if he comes back to the UAE or goes to any other GCC country, will he face any problems? If someone has a case in the UAE, can they travel to another GCC country? Please advise!

Can I return to the UAE after an outpass and unpaid fine?
Q: Hello, I had an absconding case, which was later removed. While canceling the visa with my previous employer, who had placed the absconding case, the immigration department informed me that I had a fine of 12,000 AED, and the visa would be canceled once I paid the fine. I didn’t have the money, so they said I could either take an outpass and be banned from the country or pay the fine. I chose the outpass. Now I want to return to the UAE. Somebody filed a complaint against me and is not answering calls. Can I request the police to close the case?
Q: A verbal abuse complaint was filed against me. Though there is no witness and no direct evidence, there are a few indirect WhatsApp messages that may be open to interpretation and were provided by the complainant. The police filed a case and seized my phone. It has now been over 3 months. The police transferred to the public prosecutor. However, the case was returned with a recommendation for settlement or moving to a one-day court. The complainant refused to settle before and now does not answer the police calls when they try to get the complainant to sign the notice for one one-day court hearing so this can move forward. I am following up with the police every week but there is no progress. What can be done now? Can I request the police to close the case or move it to one-day court regardless? What are my options?
