Can I return to the UAE after an outpass and unpaid fine?
Hello,
I had an absconding case, which was later removed. While canceling the visa with my previous employer, who had placed the absconding case, the immigration department informed me that I had a fine of 12,000 AED, and the visa would be canceled once I paid the fine.
I didn’t have the money, so they said I could either take an outpass and be banned from the country or pay the fine. I chose the outpass. Now I want to return to the UAE. Is there any way I can come back, and do I still need to pay the fine?

Hello,
Since you left the UAE on an outpass after an absconding case, your ability to return will depend on the type of ban imposed on you.
If the ban was permanent, re-entry may not be possible. However, if it was a temporary immigration ban, there is a possibility that it has already expired or can be lifted under certain conditions.
The AED 12,000 fine mentioned by the immigration department may still be outstanding, and in most cases, unpaid fines remain on record and must be settled before you can re-enter the UAE.
Before making any travel plans, it is essential to check your immigration status by contacting the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) or using the Dubai Police online portal to verify any existing travel bans or outstanding fines.
If you need assistance in checking your status or resolving any legal issues, you can contact me via phone or email.
Greetings,
Yes, it may be possible for you to return to the UAE, but it depends on the type of ban imposed when you take the outpass.
Here’s what you need to consider:
- Entry Ban Status:
If your ban was temporary, you may now be eligible to re-enter. A legal check is required to confirm your current status.
- Outstanding Fine:
In some cases, unpaid fines must be settled before re-entry. We can assist in verifying if the AED 12,000 fine is still applicable.
- Approval for New Visa:
Even if your ban is lifted, a new employer may need to obtain immigration clearance for your visa.

In order to explore the possibility of your return to the UAE, we can submit a mercy request on your behalf. This process may help in lifting the ban or clearing your status, depending on the details of your case.
To proceed further, we kindly request you to provide the following details:
- Immigration Office Location: Which emirate (e.g., Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, etc.) handled your visa cancellation and imposed the fine?
- Current Location: Where are you currently residing? (e.g., India, Pakistan, etc.)
- Date of Exit: When did you take the outpass and leave the UAE?
- Any Documents: If you have copies of any documents, such as the outpass, fine details, or visa cancellation papers, please share them with us.
Once we receive this information, we will clarify your status with the authorities and guide you on the next steps.
Feel free to reach out for any further assistance.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Dear questioner,
We need to check the ban status first, as you took an outpass. As per the rules, once you take an outpass to exit the country, you will receive a permanent ban.
However, if we check and find that there is no ban, you can visit the UAE.
Kindly share your WhatsApp number to discuss this further.

Wishing you a pleasant day ahead,
If you were issued an outpass with a ban, your ability to return to the UAE depends on the type and duration of the ban.
You may check your status with UAE immigration authorities or through a PRO service. If the ban is temporary, you may return once it expires; if permanent, special approval may be required.
As for the fine, it depends on whether it was waived with the outpass or still applicable.
It’s best to verify with the UAE immigration department before making any travel plans.
Dear Questioner,
Thank you for your inquiry!
To confirm whether you have a travel ban in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE and how will be lifted, we can assist you with a comprehensive check for civil and criminal cases.
Required Steps:
Before we can initiate the legal process of a travel ban check, we will require a Power of Attorney (POA) to represent you before government authorities and police stations.
To facilitate the notarization of the POA, please provide the following documents:
- A copy of your old and new passport
- A copy of your visa
- A copy of your Emirates ID
Once we receive these documents at [----------], we will draft the POA in both English and Arabic and send it to you for review, signature, and return.
Afterward, the POA will be submitted to the federal Notary Public for notarization. The notary will provide a link for a remote meeting with you, during which your original passport will be verified, and you will sign electronically.
Costs and Process:
- Notary Fees: USD 165 (paid directly to the notary). You will receive a digital copy of the notarized POA.
- Legal Fees for Travel Ban Check: USD 325. Once the notarized POA is received, we will check the UAE criminal record system for any criminal cases, travel bans, arrest warrants, or execution files registered against your name. This process typically takes about four working days.
We are here to assist you every step of the way. Please let us know if you have any questions or require further clarification.
Sincerely,
Mohammad Salah
