What can I do if my ex-wife is not cooperating to renew the visa of her and our son?
Q: I am legally divorced since 2015 in the UAE and paying sustenance to my wife for our son (15 years). Son is under the sponsorship of my ex and she is not renewing her and my son`s visa. My son has no visa or medical insurance. I am willing to sponsor my son however, my ex is not cooperating. My ex-wife is not working or earning either. What can I do? I want to protect the legal status of my son and have proper health insurance for him. Which government department can I report this matter to? Your advice will be appreciated.

Can the new landlord refuse to make a rent agreement with me?
Q: My rental contract ends in November 2023, but my landlord has sold the apartment. Also, she sent me a notice in November 2022 to vacate in November 2023. My question is: - The new landlord doesn`t want to sign a new contract until November but he is asking me to give him the cheques. What shall I do? Note: my current rental contract is not in Ejari as the previous landlord didn`t register it, but it was created through a typing center as per the recommendation of the Dubai Land Department and signed by her.

Can the employer refuse to pay my dues after termination if I lost charger of work laptop?
Q: Hi there So yesterday I went through a mutual termination dismissal. I handed in the work laptop but I lost the charger. I asked the HR lady that from my final pay, they may deduct the amount of the charger and the laptop back which all amounts to R700. She emailed me that they are declining that arrangement. Does that mean they won`t pay me my final pay? Or what does declining that imply?2023/04/12

Will labor dues be calculated based on basic or full salary?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, Today, I received a notice of termination under Article 115-Redundancy. My contract in JAFZA began on October 10, 2020, and the end date is October 10, 2023. I need your help to understand if the term "month" refers to 20 or 30 days and if payment will be based on basic salary or full salary. Regarding my termination, they have mentioned the following payments: - Salary until April 12, 2023. - Salary in lieu of the notice period. - Three months` salary as compensation for early termination. - Leave encashment until April 12, 2023. - End of service gratuity until April 12, 2023. - One-way air ticket for repatriation to my home country, only if I exit the country. As per their request, I signed the acceptance on the notice document and returned the company phone and laptop. I would like to know if it is possible to file a complaint for any additional compensation as this termination has caused me financial distress, especially since I have to pay monthly installments to the banks for the next four years.2023/04/12

Can the seller force the broker to pay security deposit if the buyer breaches the MOU?
Q: Hi. I would like to ask a question regarding the real estate property sale agreement. We are brokers and we had a client who wanted to buy a property in the UAE. The seller was selling it for 2.1M and the buyer agreed to that price and they both signed the MOU. In the MOU there`s an article mentioned that the buyer and seller must each submit a security deposit cheque amounting to AED 100,000 that we the broker will keep and be returned to both after a successful transaction. And there is another article stating that if ever any of the parties cancel or withdraw from the agreement period which is 15 working days, then the security deposit will serve as a penalty and then be disbursed to the broker and the damaged party. In this case, the BUYER didn`t give us a security deposit cheque and then he canceled after a few days. Now the SELLER is pursuing a legal case against the broker and the BUYER and the buyer is not responding to calls or emails. What are the legal cases for this?

The court has ruled that I am not entitled to a custodian housing allowance because I obtained khula, but this is against the law. Can the bank withhold my EOSB after changing jobs and providing all documents?
Q: I have a loan from a bank and I have changed my job, the bank is holding my end of service. It`s been 4 months now and my new salary is transferred to them and I never defaulted on a payment. what to do? Noting that my new salary is higher than the old one but the bank is claiming that my new company is not registered with them and rejecting to release the amounts. P.S. The original loan amount is 550K (including interest) balance amount to be paid is 380 K and my EOS is 195K.

Is there any chance to remove the ban and deportation for using weed?
Q: I was deported from Dubai for possession of weed after serving 30 days of my sentence. It was for using weed three days before when they tested the urine, and it showed positive. So after 30 days, the judgment says deportation and a Dhs 5,000 fine. Can I travel to other GCC countries? Also, is there any chance to remove my name from the blacklist if it is there?2023/04/11

How to settle the EOSB for employees when new owners take over the business?
Q: I am yet to join an organization that has been in existence in the UAE since 1996. However, they were hard hit during Covid 19. The owner was sick for some time & during this period, there were funds that were embezzled & some executives ended up fleeing the country, leaving employees unpaid & the company barely running. There are investors who want to inject funds into the company at the moment (buy 75% of shares) currently & revive operations. We are currently working on resolving issues with WPS, renewing the Trade License & registering the new investors to the new commercial license. The bone of contention is that there are employees who worked with this company for over 30 years & want to leave but there are unavailable funds to cover their EOS. Fraudulent transaction and legal threats by a bank in Dubai - What to do?
Q: Hi, My bank is threatening to file a civil case and travel ban against me in Dubai for not paying an amount close to 35 thousand dirhams. This amount was charged fraudulently on my card from my previous bank. I had filed a dispute form at that time, but before any investigation could take place, a bank bought the old bank. I filed a new dispute form with the new bank, but the case has remained unresolved for almost 2 years now. In addition, I have filed a police case (I have a letter from the police), with the Central Bank of UAE and AECB. I have also been in frequent contact with the bank via emails, phone calls, and branch visits. I would like to know if the bank has the right to file a case against me or impose a travel ban, given that they have already decreased my credit rating. Is posting on social media about non-payment of a debt considered defamation?
Q: A friend owes me money and has been lying about paying, meeting, or talking to discuss. He has stopped responding to my calls and messages for months now. I tried to reach out in multiple ways with no luck, and I ended up posting on Facebook asking him for my money. The text was "Hey, where is my money that you never paid back. It`s been over a year, stop lying and running away". The post was up for less than 2 minutes as he deleted it and blocked me. He suddenly msgs me with a screenshot from my post, and threatens me with a defamation case. Is what I wrote considered defamation or any other form of language that is not legal?

Q: Hi, Before my contract ended, I requested my landlord to perform maintenance on the flat as the cement on the ceiling was falling down, and the paint was peeling due to a high volume of mold. However, they rejected my request, so we decided not to renew the flat. Now they are asking me to pay for two months due to late notice.
