How can I remove overstay fines so that my new employer can issue my visa?
Q: I am writing to seek your legal advice regarding a complex immigration issue involving a person currently overstaying in Abu Dhabi.
His visa has expired, and although he received a job offer from a company in January 2025, the new visa process has not moved forward due to outstanding fines.
To resolve the issue, he applied to the court in November 2024 to request a reduction in the overstay fine.
He received a notification/link in January 2025 to visit immigration, but unfortunately, he could not attend due to serious health issues related to uric acid, which left him unable to walk.
Additionally, he was unable to seek medical help due to the lack of health insurance and severe financial difficulties.
He is now in a position where he wants to regularize his status in the UAE, clear any pending issues, and find a job to support his family.
We kindly request your guidance.
We would greatly appreciate your support in helping to resolve this matter in the best possible way.

He then proceeded to tell me I would be written up for it. My immediate manager is on leave, so I informed him and went to HR to file a complaint of wrongdoing.
He then immediately terminated me and told me that he would sue me for defamation. How is it defamation when I only brought the incident to the notice of the two people who are supposed to be involved anyway?
Who do I speak to, and can I take him to court?

I want to inquire regarding my leave privileges. I am now 11 months in my company. How many leaves am I privileged to?
Based on Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 regulating labour relations and its executive regulations, you are entitled to a paid weekly rest for not less than one day, as specified in the work contract or the work regulation.
The Council of Ministers may increase the weekly rest day stipulated in this article. The Decree-Law and its executive regulations also stipulate that you are entitled to an annual leave with full pay as follows:
- Thirty days for each year of your extended service.
- Two days per month in respect of any employee with more than six months and less than one year of service.
- Leave for parts of the last year of your service in case it is terminated before you use your annual leave balance.
Now my question is: do I have 22 days I can use? Can someone explain to me in detail?

Can my employer charge me training fees even if I didn’t receive any certification?
Hello,
The Second Party shall be obliged to pay back the value of the training (which is estimated at AED 10,000) if they terminate the employment contract of their own free will within one year from the date of commencement, without prejudice to the First Party's legal or contractual obligations. (The amount agreed upon for the value of the training period must be commensurate with the employee’s period of employment.)
I have that clause in my labour contract regarding the training fees, but despite completing 359 days of service with the company, I have not received any such certification from them.
Now, the company is refusing to cancel my employment and is demanding that I pay AED 10,000. In response, I filed a complaint with the Labour Department requesting the cancellation of my labour card.
However, the process is being delayed, and meanwhile, the company has filed a counter-complaint against me, demanding the full AED 10,000.
What can I do?

This is not freelance work for multiple clients, but a regular job for a single foreign employer. Payments will be sent monthly to my personal account in a Bank (in USD or AED).

Who covers accommodation while switching jobs in the UAE?

I resigned from my previous company after receiving a good offer within the UAE, signed the new offer letter, and served my notice period at my previous company.
Whose responsibility is it to provide me with accommodation until my new employment visa is ready?

Why is my bank account frozen for a case in another bank?
Hello,
"A hold has been placed on a portion of the funds available in your account due to a hold applied for an Ajman court case. Kindly visit your branch or call."
I received the above message from the bank, although the cheque bounce case is with another bank, but they have held funds in my account.
