Decrease of Rent

I am renting a 2-bedroom apartment in The Greens, Dubai, and my rent is 210 k AED which is higher than the index rate in this area.

Can I ask the Landlord to decrease the cost at the time of contract renewal? What will be the legal approach in this situation?

Dear Sir/Madam,

In the event a rent is higher than the maximum allowable value applicable within the rent index of that area, you may be able to request the landlord to reduce the rent such that it remains within the index.

Be advised that if the rent is on the high side of the rent index but still within the index, then it is up to the landlord to decide whether the rent shall be decreased or not.
