Q: Hi I have a query regarding a divorce case. We both are Muslims having one daughter, currently with my ex-wife. Marriage and divorce both happened in Pakistan. My ex-wife filed a case in Dubai court demanding child maintenance, Ex-wife alimony, furnished house provision, utility bills payment, school fees and a housemaid. The impact of UAE debts on travelling to GCC countries
Q: I have debt from the UAE and have a few bounced cheque cases against me. I left the UAE a few years back and have not travelled to the countries since then. My question is if I travel to Qatar, Saudi or Kuwait, will those bounced cheque cases come to haunt me on those countries, even though I am just in transit of those countries?

The possibility of facing a jail term in case of big loan default
Q: Hi, Could you please let me know what is the rule for cheque return that we give for our loan guarantee? We took a loan one year ago for AED 770,000 and now we can not pay the instalments. Our cheque is AED 1,200,000 and the bank deposited the cheque. They said they will open a case in Sharjah, and we don`t know the cheque return rules in Sharjah. My husband is out of the country now and he wants to come back, but we`re afraid if they open the case in Sharjah as we heard that they keep the person in jail until returning the full amount. Our loan was 4 years and the instalment was AED 25000. We paid 8 instalments. Now, the cheque returned and we don`t know whether they`ve opened a case or no and if they opened what we should do. Please advise me if it`s better for my husband not to come back to the UAE or to Sharjah. Also, will they fine him around AED 20000 without jail or they will keep him in jail. Thanks and regards

Resignation from free zone company for the nonpayment of salary
Q: Do I have a ban if I`ve resigned before my visa was stamped in the passport? I am working in a free zone company for the last 8 months. Now my employer gave an employment visa. They did my medical but didn`t get the Emirates ID and visa is not stamped on my passport yet. Also, they are not paying my salary for the last 3 months. Claiming refund of down payment for delay in property handover
Q: I purchased a property under construction from a developer by paying 10% down payment amount and the remaining 90% to be paid after handover. As per the SPA, the date of completion is December 2018. But the property is still under construction and will be ready by Dec. 2020. Can I get my 10% money back and what is the procedure? The legal way of recovering the amount of bounced cheque
Q: I got a cheque of AED 220k which bounced. I opened a case with Sharjah police. They contacted the gentleman and his brother told me they detained him this weekend at the police station. It seems tomorrow a court appeal will happen. I have not been contacted by the police or the person who gave me the bounced cheque. The proposal according to his brother would be 14 cheques of AED 10k and two cheques of AED 35k (Total 16 months). If the person leaves the country, will I have issues for the cheques? If I leave the country to relocate somewhere else, do I have any issue to get my money? If in the 8months a cheque of AED 10k bounced, what will be the consequences?
