Questions & Answers
I received a notice from Dubai Court’s Amicable Settlement. Can I negotiate the payment terms?
Hello,
I received a notice from the Amicable Settlement Department at Dubai Court regarding a financial amount I need to pay to an individual who lent me the amount.
I’m willing to pay it back; however, I am negotiating the payment terms. I have two questions:
1. What is the procedure of the Amicable Settlement Department, as I only received a notification without any other information?
2. Will I be able to negotiate a settlement, and how?
Please advise.
Thank you!
Hello, dear.
An amicable settlement takes place in court between you and the other party filing the case. If no satisfactory solution is reached, the case is referred to the judge, after which a ruling is made.
However, you can pay the amount in installments after the ruling is made in installments according to a convenient installment plan.
We can assist you and represent you in court.

1. What is the Amicable Settlement Department at Dubai Courts?
The Amicable Settlement Department is part of Dubai Courts and is responsible for helping parties resolve civil, commercial, or financial disputes amicably before filing a full court case.
The goal is to facilitate negotiations and avoid lengthy and costly litigation.
If you received a notice from this department, it means the other party (the lender) submitted a request to settle the matter amicably; it is not yet a formal court case.
2. Can You Negotiate a Settlement? How?
Yes, you absolutely can negotiate a settlement, and here’s how:
a. Attend the session that will be scheduled by the Amicable Settlement Department (you’ll usually receive a call, SMS, or email with the date).
b. During the session, you may:
- Acknowledge the debt (fully or partially).
- Propose a reasonable repayment plan (in one payment or installments).
- Try to negotiate a reduction in the amount, if possible.
c. If both parties reach an agreement, it will be documented and signed, and the agreement becomes legally enforceable.
d. If no agreement is reached, the matter is referred to the competent court (usually civil court).
Important Tips:
- Prepare all relevant documents (e.g., transfers, chats, prior agreements).
- Be transparent with your repayment offer and make sure it's realistic.
- Attending the session demonstrates good faith and may lead to a favorable outcome.
The Dubai Court's mandate management is a time for amicable settlement of financial disputes before trial.
If you receive a notice from the court, it means there is a financial dispute between you and another person, and the other party is not responsible for the management's settlement.
You agree to the payment terms and have the opportunity to ask questions, explain your situation, and attempt to communicate with the other party.

Its primary goal is to help the disputing parties reach a mutually satisfactory solution.
The Amicable Settlement Department at Dubai Courts is a formal process aimed at resolving civil and financial disputes amicably before escalation to full litigation.
Procedure: After receiving the notification, the Court will assign a hearing date where both parties are invited to attend (either in person or through legal representatives). The goal is to reach a mutually agreed-upon settlement.
Negotiation: Yes, you are allowed and encouraged to negotiate repayment terms during this process (e.g., installments, partial settlement). If an agreement is reached, it will be documented officially and have the force of a court order.
Hello,
The Amicable Settlement Department of the Dubai Courts is designed to help parties resolve financial disputes without going to a full trial.
When you receive a notification from this department, it means someone, like the individual who lent you money, has filed a case, and the court is giving both sides an opportunity to settle the matter through mediation.
You will either be scheduled for an in-person or remote session with a legal mediator, not a judge.
During this session, you can explain your situation and propose a payment plan or a one-time settlement amount.
The creditor will have a chance to accept, reject, or counter your proposal. If both parties agree, the settlement becomes a binding court document.
If no agreement is reached, the case proceeds to civil court, where a judgment could be issued against you.
It’s important to attend the session and be prepared to negotiate respectfully and realistically.
Bring any proof of financial hardship, salary details, or partial payments you've made. This process is your best chance to avoid a formal judgment and resolve the matter legally and amicably.

Thank you for reaching out!
The Amicable Settlement Department at Dubai Courts is designed to help parties resolve financial disputes without going into full litigation.
Since you've received a notice, it means a claim has been filed against you, and you are now being invited to attend a session where the court tries to mediate a settlement between you and the claimant.
You are absolutely allowed to negotiate payment terms; this is, in fact, the purpose of the process. However, it's important to approach it properly.
The settlement officer is neutral and does not represent either side. So it’s strongly recommended that you go into this process with legal guidance, especially to ensure your payment offer is documented in a way that protects you from future claims, penalties, or enforcement actions.
I can assist you in preparing your proposal, negotiating directly with the claimant through the court, and ensuring that your rights are fully protected.

Your case relates to a financial dispute referred to the Amicable Settlement Department at Dubai Courts, which we’ve successfully handled in multiple similar cases.
In one recent matter, our client received a sudden notification without full details, yet through prompt legal representation, we were able to clarify the claim, negotiate extended payment terms, and avoid escalation to a formal lawsuit.
First, the Amicable Settlement Department acts as a pre-litigation platform designed to resolve civil and financial disputes without going to court. Upon receiving a notice, you’re expected to attend a scheduled meeting (usually held at the court’s premises or via phone/email) where the claimant presents their demand and the respondent may offer a counterproposal.
Second, yes, negotiation is absolutely possible. If you're willing to repay the amount but seek revised terms, you or your lawyer can submit a payment proposal during the meeting.
The officer mediating the session may then document the agreement formally. If a mutual understanding is reached, the case will be closed without litigation.
We recommend responding promptly and having a lawyer represent you in the session to ensure your financial capability is clearly stated, your rights are protected, and any agreement is recorded in binding terms.
To advise you more precisely, we would need to review the original claim notification and understand the full amount and payment history.
