Questions & Answers
Why is my bank account frozen for a case in another bank?
Hello,
"A hold has been placed on a portion of the funds available in your account due to a hold applied for an Ajman court case. Kindly visit your branch or call."
I received the above message from the bank, although the cheque bounce case is with another bank, but they have held funds in my account.
Dear questioner,
When a bank states "Hold applied for Ajman court case," it almost certainly means a Precautionary Attachment (PA) (also known as a "freezing order" or "garnishment order" in other jurisdictions) has been issued by an Ajman court.
Even if the cheque bounce case originated in another bank, if the legal process for that bounced cheque has reached the execution stage in Ajman, then the court can issue an order to freeze your assets across any banks in the UAE where you hold accounts.
The UAE's legal system allows for the enforcement of judgments across emirates. If you need to release the hold, you either need to settle the case through the court or with the bank.

Dear Inquirer,
The message you received indicates that a precautionary hold has been placed on your bank account due to a court case filed in Ajman, likely related to a bounced cheque.
Even if the case originated from another bank, the court can issue a judicial attachment on any of your accounts across different banks.
To properly assess your situation and explore legal options to lift the hold or settle the case, we recommend booking a consultation or appointing our office to act on your behalf.

Dear Client,
Based on the message you received from the bank, a hold has been placed on a portion of your account balance by order of Ajman Court, likely in connection with a legal case—most commonly a bounced cheque (dishonoured cheque) case.
Even if the cheque case is filed with a different bank or relates to a different account, the court has the authority to issue a precautionary hold (attachment order) on any bank account under your name.
Such orders are enforced through the UAE Central Bank, and banks are obligated to freeze the specified funds immediately upon notification.
Recommended actions:
Visit your bank branch immediately and request an official copy of the hold order or details of the court and case number.
Contact a lawyer to review the case file and determine whether the hold can be lifted or legally contested.
If you were not previously notified of this case, your lawyer can file an urgent application to the court to obtain access to the file or submit a request to challenge the hold.
We are available to assist you with the necessary legal steps and representation before the relevant court.
Best regards,

There are several legal approaches depending on the nature and stage of the Ajman court case, but based on what you’ve described, the most suitable action would be immediate legal intervention to lift the hold and clarify the enforcement scope.
We’ve handled a nearly identical situation where a client had a cheque case in a different emirate, yet funds were frozen in another bank by order of an Ajman court. We successfully challenged the execution order by proving the lack of jurisdiction over that specific account and secured a release of the funds.
The hold placed by the bank is likely based on an execution file following a final judgment or a bounced cheque complaint. Even if the case originated in another emirate, Ajman courts can issue such instructions if the complainant files an execution request there.
Our legal team can urgently contact the bank’s legal department and the Ajman court to request the file details, confirm the basis of the freeze, and file a petition to either lift or limit the hold, especially if the cheque relates to another bank account.
We strongly advise that you do not delay. Share the court case number, the bank details, and a copy of the bounced cheque or relevant complaint so we can act swiftly. Our multilingual lawyers (Arabic, English, Russian, Hindi, Chinese) will guide you through every step.
Thank you for reaching out!
Based on your message, it seems the bank has placed a hold on your account due to a court order, likely related to a bounced cheque case filed in Ajman, even though the cheque itself was issued by a different bank.
This is a common practice, as the claimant can request precautionary attachment from the court on any of your assets, including funds in unrelated banks, once they obtain the necessary order.
If you believe the hold was placed unfairly or without proper notice, or if the amount exceeds the actual claim, you have the right to file an objection before the Ajman Court to challenge the attachment and possibly release the funds. This needs to be done quickly to avoid escalation or further restrictions.
I can assist you in reviewing the case, filing the appropriate objection, and following up with the court and bank to resolve the matter efficiently.
Please reach out to me on WhatsApp or phone so we can discuss your options in detail and take immediate action if needed.
