As a UK citizen returning to Dubai after over a year, do I need to apply for an entry permit?

Hello,

I am a UK citizen. I arrive in Dubai on the 2nd of June. I think I need to apply for an entry permit, as I have been out of the country for more than 1 year.

Please, can you help?

Everyone I speak to doesn't know and gives different information.

Dear questioner,

For UK citizens, you generally do NOT need to apply for an entry permit in advance to visit the UAE, even if you've been out of the country for a long time.

The UAE has a visa-on-arrival facility for UK citizens. As a UK passport holder, you are eligible for a free multiple-entry 90-day visit visa that is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a total stay of 90 days within that 180-day period.

I have a visa already, but I have been out of the country for over 1 year.

If you had a residence visa from the UAE, then we need to check the status of it. Generally, after 6 months, it will be automatically cancelled, so there will be no entry permit.
