Questions & Answers
My boss delayed my vacation, and I won’t renew. Will I be paid for unused leave?
Hello,
My boss delayed my vacation until the end of my contract, and I’m not willing to renew.
Am I going to be paid for the annual leave my employer didn’t give me?
Please answer me!
Greetings,
If your employer delayed your annual leave until the end of your contract and you choose not to renew, you are entitled to payment in lieu of the unused leave as per UAE Labour Law. This includes any accrued annual leave not taken during your employment.
To ensure you receive your full legal entitlements and handle the process correctly, we recommend booking a consultation or authorizing our legal team to represent you.
Under UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021), if your employment ends and you have unused annual leave, you are legally entitled to be paid for those unused days based on your basic salary, regardless of whether you choose not to renew your contract.
This is reinforced by Article 29(9) and Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022. You should review your leave balance, calculate your entitlement, and formally request payment.
If your employer refuses, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), keeping in mind that legal claims must be made within one year from the date of entitlement.

Thank You!
You are absolutely entitled to be paid for the annual leave that your employer delayed until the end of your contract and which you were unable to take due to your non-renewal.
The payment for unutilized leave is calculated based on your basic salary at the time of termination.
