How can I go back to the Philippines if my visa expired and I’ve overstayed in the UAE?

Hello,

I'm from the Philippines. I work here as a maid. My employer didn't process my visa.

I overstayed here, and my visa expired on January 23, 2025. Today is May 6, 2025. I want to go home to the Philippines.

What should I do?

You can go back home, and there is no problem with that.

Hello,

Since your visa expired on January 23, 2025, you will need to pay the fines for overstaying. You can visit the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) or the Immigration Department in your emirate (Abu Dhabi or Dubai) to inquire about your overstay fines and the exact amount.

If your visa has expired and you have overstayed, you will need an outpass (exit permit) to leave the UAE. You can apply for this permit at the GDRFA or the immigration office.

The outpass will allow you to exit the UAE without facing any legal issues at the border.

Greetings,

Thank you for reaching out!

Since your visa has expired, you are currently in the UAE without legal status. To resolve this issue and safely return to the Philippines, you will need to take the following steps:

- Exit Permit: You must obtain an exit permit from the UAE authorities to leave the country.

- Fines & Penalties: You may be required to pay fines for overstaying your visa, which you can settle at the relevant immigration office.

- Re-entry Ban (if applicable): There might be a possibility of a temporary re-entry ban depending on your overstaying duration.

We recommend consulting with a legal expert to guide you through this process and ensure you comply with UAE laws.

Please book a consultation with us to assist you in resolving this matter promptly.

Under UAE law, an overstayer must settle the overstay fines and regularize their status before departure. If you cooperate with authorities, you can usually exit without a ban.

Our legal center specializes in such cases. You may contact us on WhatsApp for further legal support and guidance.
