0
Q: Currently working at Company X in Dubai. I recently got a stronger offer from Company Y, a much larger firm in the same industry but in a different free zone.
When I asked if Company X could match the offer, they proposed a bonus, not a salary adjustment. I resigned. While I didn’t disclose where I was going, they seem to know, and their legal team has started sending letters.
My contract has restrictive clauses, including: “For 12 months post-termination, the employee shall not, without prior written consent, (a) be employed or engaged in any capacity by any business in competition in the UAE with any Restricted Business; (b) have business dealings with any Client or Prospective Client in such competition.”
Friends in law say it’s too broad to enforce. I held a manager role, AED 30k/month, not C-level, though considered a key member. Despite the pressure, I believe they’re overreaching legally.
Please advise if these non-compete clauses are enforceable.

Can my former employer take legal action aginst me due a non-compete clause if I started a similar business?

0
Q: Dear Lawyers,
I need your advice regarding a non-compete clause in my contract.
I left my former employer last September, and they were a free zone company. I have since started a similar business online with a Tajer license.
However, my ex-employer is sending me emails daily, threatening to take legal action if I don’t close my business.
Can you advise on my rights and the best course of action?
Best regards,

I resigned and joined another company and facing a case based on the non-compete agreement. What to do?

0
Q: Hi.
I have resigned from a company to move out of the country. Later I decided to come back and I asked them if they could take me back.
They declined and I have a message stating that I'm free to join anywhere. I joined a new organization and they are filing a labor case for a non-compete clause and not clearing my FnF.

I am going to file for a no-fault divorce soon. We got married in Dubai, and we own a studio apartment jointly.
I have paid AED 150,019 and have bank statements to prove. As per the Land Department, my ownership is 49.91%.
Will I get this share as per the current value, or will the court determine who paid what amounts?
Thanks

I am resigning from my work. Am I responsible for visa costs? Am I eligible for EOSB if I served 1 year and 2 months? 0
I would like to seek legal clarification regarding a clause in my employment contract.
The contract states: “In the event the employee terminates the contract prematurely, applicable visa charges will be incurred by the employer.”
I have completed 1 year and 2 months of my 2-year contract, but I am considering resigning. My employer has informed me that I may have to reimburse the visa costs due to this clause.
Could you please confirm:
1. Is it legal under UAE labor law for the employer to require me to pay for visa costs upon resignation?
2. Am I entitled to any end-of-service benefits (gratuity) after completing 1 year and 2 months?
3. Are there any penalties or labor bans that may apply if I resign before completing 2 years?
I would appreciate your guidance on this matter.
Please let me know if a consultation is needed.

My new employer is not changing my visa status and refuses to provide cancellation papers, especially when I don’t recall signing any cancellation documents and haven’t received my gratuity yet.

If a landlord has granted a power of attorney to another individual to handle their property and litigation, can the PoA holder be held liable for an execution order, especially where a property has been sold and the owner owes money to a previous tenant for a RERA case?
The proceeds of sale have been transferred into accounts held in the name of the PoA holder.

View allI secured a mortgage from the bank and the broker kept delaying until the MOU expired. What to do? 0
Hi,
I need some guidance regarding a property transaction that is not progressing as expected.
My broker initiated a manual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between me (the Buyer) and the Seller, with an expiry date of 01/02/2025. Within this period, I successfully arranged the bank mortgage, property evaluation, and NOC.
However, the broker started giving excuses, such as the seller being hospitalized. Later, the broker attempted to arrange a Power of Attorney (POA).
However, after that, they started ignoring my messages and calls. It now seems like they no longer intend to proceed with me, and the MOU has already expired.
Meanwhile, my bank EMI has already started, and I have paid two monthly installments. The broker is still unresponsive. I have raised multiple complaints through DLD RVS against the broker, but the response has been very slow and unsatisfactory.
I’m feeling stuck and financially burdened.
Please advise

How to solve the OTP issue blocking my visa change while changing jobs and get a new visa? 0
I need legal advice regarding the cancellation of my work permit to join a new company. Here’s a brief overview:
I have worked for a contracting company in Dubai since 2018, with my visa later transferred to Sharjah. After receiving a job offer in Dubai, I resigned, but my old employer’s attempt to cancel my work permit failed due to an OTP issue.
ICP granted permission to cancel my change-of-status visa, but when my new employer applied for my permit, they found the old one still active. I raised a labor complaint with MOHRE on 21 March 2025, but it's still under process.
My family’s grace period expired on 27 Mar 2025, so I sent them back to India. I’m now facing a daily fine of AED 50 for overstaying since my change of status was canceled on 13 Mar 2025.
Once this is resolved, I plan to bring my family back as my son’s school reopens on 07 April 2025.
I would appreciate your advice on resolving the permit cancellation and overstay fines.
