Questions & Answers
After completing 2 years, my company hasn't approved my annual leave. What to do?
Hi,
I have completed two years, but my company is not allowing me to take annual leave.
What can I do now? How can I take my annual leave?
The UAE Labor Law, specifically Federal Decree-Law No. (33) of 2021, clearly outlines employees' rights to annual leave.
After completing one year of service, you are entitled to at least 30 days of paid annual leave. Employers cannot prevent employees from taking their accrued annual leave for more than two years.
Employers have some right to organize when leave is taken, to ensure business continuity. However, they cannot deny the leave entirely.
Send a formal, written request to your employer for your annual leave. Clearly state your request, referencing the UAE Labor Law.
If your employer continues to deny your request, file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE).
If you need further clarification, you may ask us.

Hello!
Check your employment agreement or company policies to understand your leave entitlement and any restrictions.
Speak to your Manager or HR. Try to make a formal request for the leave through email or application. You can also approach MOHRE for any action against the employer.
You should review company policies, understand local labor laws, communicate formally with your employer about taking annual leave, document all interactions, escalate if needed, and seek legal advice if necessary.
Dear questioner,
File a complaint against the company. It is the employer's obligation to provide annual leave if the employee wishes to take it.
