Q: Hello Sir, I was fired on JAN 20 2020 on the second day of arrival from vacation. They gave me 2 months of grace time to use the same visa to look for a job and also to settle my dues. By April, they canceled my Freezone visa. I didn't get any job till Dec 2020 because the pandemic started, so I stayed and was looking for a job. Almost after a year, I got a job; the whole year I was jobless. Almost a year and half later, my old Pro is threatening me if I didn't submit my new visa copy, they are going to file an absconding case on me. This Decree sets the rules and conditions for the termination of fixed-term (limited) or unlimited (not term-bound) employment contract between employer and worker in the United Arab Emirates.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
