Settling a case for defaulting on a personal loan with the bank

I understand your situation and I would like to state that this matter can be resolved if acted swiftly and smartly.

Considering you defaulted in paying few months' instalments, the bank deposited the guarantee cheque and consequently filed a cheque bounce case against you.

Since there is a cheque case against you, there will be a travel ban imposed upon you as we speak.

Further, since the amount is under AED 200,000/- (assuming you are in Dubai, please confirm), there will be a fine imposed upon you of around 10-15% of the cheque amount (there won't be any imprisonment so do not worry and the fine amount is at the discretion of the court).

You will need by yourself, or with the aid of a lawyer, to approach the police station and retrieve case details (case no. fine amount...etc).

Thereafter, you will have to pay these fines and obtain a clearance letter from the Public Prosecutor and submit the same at the police station to lift the ban.

Once this police case is over, the bank still has a recourse to file a civil case against you for recovering its dues.

However, the filing of a civil case does not result in a travel ban. I am sure you will be able to negotiate and restructure the debts owed to the bank.
