Expected penalty for the non-payment of bounced cheque fine

What would be the possible jail term for the non-payment of the police fine of AED 5,000 for a bounced cheque value of AED 95,000, if the person is entering the country?

Also, will an existing bounced cheque case be de-criminalized with the onset of next year?

Hello.

The new regulations do not decriminalize bounced cheque offence.

However, the changes will bring a chance to debtors to request the court a settlement of their debts.

The penalty remains the same.

AED 100 per day shall be adjusted against jail term.

Once the jail term is completed, the case shall be removed from the system.
