Questions & Answers
What does "locked social account" mean in my defamation case verdict?
Hi,
I just received the verdict from the court for a defamation case (WhatsApp conversation).
The verdict is a 10k fine and a locked social account. What does it mean by "locked social account"?
Does it mean that I cannot use my social account here in the UAE?
Thank you in advance for the answer!
Dear Questioner,
It means that the social media account that you used for the defamation case can be locked.
You can share the judgment with us for an explanation and to find your chances for objection and appeal.
Dear Questioner,
There's a possibility the lock is temporary, and you might regain access after a certain period (depending on the court order and the specific platform's policies).
In some cases, the court order might specify a permanent ban on using the specific social media platform within the UAE on your account.
Carefully examine the court order to understand the specifics of the "Locked Social Account" verdict. It should mention the duration of the restriction or if it's permanent.
