Is it normal for a company to require an initial payment for visa and work permit?

Sir/Madam,

I am currently in India and have received an offer letter from a company based in Fujairah, UAE. They have asked me to contact a travel agency for the work permit and visa process.

It seems I have to make an initial payment for these processes (the offer letter says it is the company's official policy), and it will be reimbursed later. Is this normal? Please guide me.

Thank you!

Dear questioner,

There is no requirement for the employee to bear the visa or work permit costs. According to the law, it is the obligation of the employer to cover these expenses.

It is better to avoid such transactions in the name of a job because there are many similar fraud cases. Therefore, thoroughly check the background of the company.

This is not normal, as the employer should take responsibility for the invitation, visa, ticket, etc., if they offer employment to individuals outside of the UAE. Please be careful, as some people are scamming.

You can save our WhatsApp number if you need any assistance in the future.

You should proceed with it after getting a properly documented response from your company.

Thanks for checking and clarifying the process and my doubts.

So far, I have only received their offer document attached to an email. I think once I send my acceptance to their offer, I will be contacted by the travel agency (based in Abu Dhabi).

Thank you, sir!

Thank you for your inquiry!

Yes, you are right.

It is the employer's obligation to provide work permits and residency visas.

You can discuss this with them to come to a resolution.

No one can give you an accurate answer, as we do not know the company based in Fujairah.

You need to search for it online, use Google, verify their phone numbers, contact them, and confirm their emails, as what they say may or may not be true.
