What are my rights if my employer terminated me before the end of my contract?
I finished my 1-year contract and my employer gave me benefits for that year.
Then they gave me a 6 months contract extension but my employer terminated me in the 5th month because of demobilization.
Am I entitled to any benefits based on UAE Labor Law?
If you got terminated from the job due to the reason of demobilization, then you will be eligible to serve the notice period and will receive the notice period salary.
In order to get any kind of compensation according to UAE labor law, the reason does not fall under the category of illegal termination.
Otherwise, the company might have some policies to provide some benefits due to this kind of termination.

According to UAE Labor Law, an employee who has completed one year of continuous service is entitled to end-of-service benefits upon termination, regardless of the reason for termination.
This includes employees who have completed a one-year contract and have been given a contract extension.
In your case, since you have completed one year of service and have been terminated before the end of your contract, you are entitled to end-of-service benefits.
This includes a gratuity payment, which is calculated based on your basic salary and the length of your service.
The calculation is as follows:
- 21 days of basic salary for each year of service for the first five years
- 30 days of basic salary for each year of service after the first five years In addition to the gratuity payment.
You are also entitled to any other benefits that were mentioned in your contract, such as annual leave salary, airfare allowance, and any other allowances.
It is important to note that if your contract was terminated due to demobilization, your employer should provide you with a valid reason for termination and a notice period of at least 30 days.
If they fail to do so, they may be liable to pay you compensation for the notice period.
If your employer refuses to pay you the end-of-service benefits or any other entitlements, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE).
