If I don't hand over after resigning, can they extend my notice or impose penalties?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I work in a semi-government company in the UAE for over 15 years. I resigned last month, and my notice period is three months.

If I do not perform the handover, can they extend my notice period?

Are there any penalties for not performing the handover?

Dear questioner,

Unjustified delay in handover is illegal and could lead to legal action; therefore, we advise against it.

Your employer can extend your notice period at its discretion if you request the same and the employer approves.

Other than that, the employer is not obligated to extend the notice period.

Dear Questioner,

If you don't complete the necessary procedures, the company may withhold your dues or extend your warning period.

This is because most companies have internal policies that require these procedures to be followed, and you've likely agreed to these terms.

To avoid any potential issues, it's best to complete these procedures as soon as possible.

Dear Questioner,

In order to effect the cancelation, you have to hand over everything associated with your job.

Only after that, they will submit the cancelation request. Apart from that you will be receiving the settlement deed from the company after handover everything.

They can hold your cancelation or there might be some complexities if there is any delay on your part.
