Q: Dear Nikhat,
I have a personal loan with a bank in Dubai. Last October 2016 I lost my job and the company sent me back to my country. Now I have a job offer and visa.
Will I be arrested if I arrive in the UAE?
Due to the job lost only I didn't pay the amount. If possible I can speak to the bank and I can pay the amount monthly.
Please advise me.
Thanks / Regards

Negotiating with the bank to restructure outstanding loan payment
6
Q: Hi,
I have taken a loan from the bank worth AED 450000. I lost my job in 2016 and was unable to pay the instalments, then left Dubai.
Bank people never contacted me and I left as I was unable to pay the monthly instalments. Now I am in India.
I have got another job in Dubai and I am very keen on joining it.
I contacted the bank through email asking their help to sort this, they asked me to call the call centre.
When I called the call centre no one was able to help me, they just said "we will get back to you", but no reply yet. For 1 month, they are not able to help me.
Now, I have to join my new job in Dubai asap, and unable to understand what to do. I am ready to pay half amount now and remaining half in instalments on monthly basis.
But I don't know whom to contact and how to get this sorted.
PS: I don't have any friend in Dubai who is ready to help me and go and negotiate with the bank on my behalf. I am just trying to call and sort on my own.
Please help and guide me.

Q: I lost my job and could not pay the EMI's since Jan 2017 till now against a personal loan of AED 316,000. The bank bounced my cheque in March 2017 and I was fined Dhs 15,000 by the public prosecutor.
Do I have a travel ban or not by the bank? The bank is calling me every day for paying the loan even after the police case. I am still jobless.

Q: Hello Lawyer,
I lost my job in November 2018 and still searching for a suitable job here in the UAE. I have a bank loan for which an EMI is active.
Until last month, I managed to pay the EMI somehow hoping I will get a job. But so far, I am not lucky and from this month onwards I won't be able to pay the EMI.
I need your best legal advice to close the dealings with the bank in a smooth manner.
Awaiting your reply.

Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
I have noticed a cheque bounce case filed against my credit card. I have informed them before that I will proceed with an easy EMI scheme through instalments. However, they deposited the cheque; the amount showing is AED 50,000.
Can you please advise how to proceed further?
Can I go to the police station directly?

What to do after facing a credit card case by the bank and payment of a fine?
1
Q: I lost my job in March 2020. Had a loan payment and credit card payment going with the bank.
I could not pay the loan EMI, the bank filed a case and I had to pay the fine of AED 10,000/-.
At this point, I'm still jobless and unable to pay the credit card minimum due since April 2020.
My query -
1- I don't remember giving any blank cheque for a credit card since it was issued by the bank without my request, can they still file a case?
2- In the meantime, if I get a job, can I open a salary account with a different bank?

I left an unpaid credit card. How to check if I have a case against me?

0
Q: Good Day!
I left an unpaid credit card loan of AED 3,000 in Dubai last 2019 (My credit limit is 5,000).
Since 2016, I had my card deactivated & just paid the minimum monthly till 2019. I was laid off from work & so I did not pay the balance.
As far as I remember, I did not give a security cheque to the bank.
Will they still file a case against me?
And also, my sister who is still in Dubai went to check if I have a civil case at Muraqqabat police station & was told that my name has no case. Can I rely on the police report?
Is it possible that the bank forgives a defaulter like me?
Thank you

Liability of daughter against the debts of her father 0
To whom this may concern,
I returned back to Australia after 10 years in Abu Dhabi in 2015. As I turn 18 this year in November, I plan on visiting friends who are in the UAE for about a month.
I would like to travel with them around the country freely without any prosecution from local officials.
My father had to leave the UAE in 2016 for health reasons and has unpaid debts in the UAE, Abu Dhabi specifically.
I would like to know and have it in writing if I would be able to travel freely to the UAE at the end of the year and that I am not liable for my parents' debts/problems as I have no legal responsibilities for their actions.
Kind regards.

Bounced cheque case for a loan after paying the fine 0
Hi
I have got a call from Dubai Police last week regarding my cheque bounce which I issued to the bank due to default on loan payment on time.
I paid a visit & they referred me to the prosecution & I got fine which I already paid and got clearance.
I want to know if the bank can still file a case against me & I still need to contact the bank for settlement or case clearance.
I am getting too many calls even after that, and the debt collector is actually harassing with the worst behaviour & back to back calls which actually ruined my personal life and put me in depression with high bp.
Thank you
