Q: My husband and I married in Dubai and we separated 4 years ago. He is a British citizen who left the UAE for good, and I am from Uzbekistan also left to my home country for good. Now, I want to divorce and wanted to know if I can file the case in my home country or it must be in Dubai (I can’t just travel to Dubai for divorce). We have one kid and he is not really a caring or responsible person. He doesn’t talk to me or his son, with no support from him. I will appreciate any helpful advice.

Q: My friend is facing so much mental torture from her husband, as a result, she doesn't want to live with him and she plans to go back to her country and file a divorce and complaint against him and his family as they are also involved. Does she need to complain in Abu Dhabi as well against him before leaving the country to make the case strong?? Q: Good day, I am a South African citizen married to a Romanian citizen under the Romanian law. [We were married in the Romanian embassy in Qatar and issued a Romanian marriage certificate.] We are residents of the UAE since 2006. Each of us has worked under own company sponsorship. Our marriage has now come to an end. I wish to have the divorce proceedings taking place here in the UAE although I am certain that my wife wishes to have it done in Romania. We have assets both in Abu Dhabi and Romania. Two properties each in both countries fully paid off.
