Hello,

Yes, he can as long as they also give you a 30-day notice period to leave the company.

It is better to review your contract terms.

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.

In the UAE, it is usually expected that there should be a 30-day notice for contract non-renewal according to the Labor Law.

However, if your employer has given you a notice of non-renewal 19 days before your contract expires, it might not adhere to the notice period.

I recommend reviewing your employment contract and reaching out to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) if you have any concerns regarding your situation.

Dear Questioner,

If the employer issued the non-renewal notice 19 days before the contract expiry on January 16th, and the contract specifies a 30-day notice period, the employer might be in default of the required notice period.

Consequently, the employer could be held responsible for compensating the employee for the remaining notice period days, which, in this case, would be 11 days.

However, various factors could impact this assessment, including the contractual notice period, mutual agreement to waive notice, or specific justifications outlined in the law allowing immediate termination by the employer due to gross misconduct by the employee.
