Should the employer provide a return air ticket to an employee upon resignation?

I worked for a company for 2 years and 8 months without taking any vacation. However, when I resigned to go home, the company informed me that I should purchase the air ticket myself.
I would like to inquire if the company is not supposed to provide the air ticket for me.
