Questions & Answers
Termination before the end of a labor contract. Am I entitled to compensation?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I was terminated and provided with a three-month notice period in accordance with my employment contract.
However, the contract is fixed-term (following a switch from an unlimited-term contract) and the termination occurs before the end of this contract's two-year term.
I would like to inquire whether I am entitled to compensation equivalent to three months' salary, as I have read in the federal labor law.
Additionally, the termination letter did not specify the reason for my termination.
Thanks a lot!
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.
In the UAE, if you have an unlimited employment contract and you are terminated without cause, you are generally entitled to compensation, which includes salary for the notice period or payment in lieu of notice.
However, for limited-term contracts, it's essential to review the terms of your contract. If your contract does not include a termination clause or the reason for termination, this may also affect your entitlements.

Dear questioner,
Following the current UAE Labor Law, in your case, as you were terminated from your employment and given a three-month notice period, as per your contract, you are entitled to compensation of three months' salaries, as stipulated in the UAE Labor Law.
The fact that your termination letter does not include the reason for termination does not affect your right to compensation.
The employer is still obligated to pay you compensation even if they do not provide a reason for termination.
If your employer refuses to pay you compensation, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). MOHRE will investigate the matter and take appropriate action.
You may also be entitled to other compensations as you are a foreign worker, which we could talk about further if you are interested.
