If a wife file a case against husband, can he ask for the mahr?
Dear Sir/Madam,
My husband divorced me on WhatsApp, but he didn't want to come to the Dubai court to request a divorce. He left me when I was traveling.
I remember that some time ago, when he was fighting with me, he told me, "If you divorce me, I will ask for the mahr."
Maybe this is why he doesn't want to divorce me in court. But he's not paying me anything for the house or food. He divorced me so easily and blocked me.
If I file a case, can he ask for the mahr?
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.
If you file a divorce case in Dubai, your husband may request the return of the mahr (dower) as part of the divorce settlement.
The court will consider various factors in deciding on the division of assets, including the mahr, but it ultimately depends on the specific circumstances of your case and the decision of the court.

Dear Questioner,
No, only the wife who never had intercourse with her husband and wants to get a divorce has to pay the mahr back or in the case of khula which means the wife obtaining a divorce by relinquishing the divorcee rights.
