The penalty and clearance of a bounced rental cheque
Good evening Sir,
I have a rental cheque of amount 30k bounced by my landlord due to insufficient funds. I lost my job and had to come back to my country.
Now, I have a new job opening in Dubai. When I checked the immigration system, it showed that I have a case against me for the same amount of AED 30k.
How would I be able to come back to Dubai as they will stop me at the airport?
I’ve got people saying that as per the new law, I will have to pay a fine up to AED 2000 for a bounced cheque of AED 50k. Is this true? How do I deal with this?

The new cheque bounce law of Dubai you are referring to is that there is no jail term for a bounced cheque amount of AED 200,000.
Considering your cheque amount is only AED 30,000, there will be a case wherein you will have to pay a fine of AED 3000/AED 4000 (fine up to 10-15% of the cheque amount at the discretion of the court).
You can appoint a lawyer in Dubai who will represent you before the court/police, get the case details and pay the fine for you.
Upon payment of the fine, the police will issue a clearance letter. Once the clearance letter is issued, you will not face any detention at the airport and your travel will be smooth and safe.
