Wrongfully accused and fined for subleasing a residential property

My husband and I are living in Wasl properties. One day when the inspection was carried out, our cousin was there at home.

The Wasl guy took his ID and fined us AED 8000.00 for subleasing. Actually, the cousin is staying in a nearby bachelor accommodation but when we told them that, they asked us to prove the relationship in a week's time.

Please advise, how to get rid of the fine as we are not subleasing?

Dear questioner,

You have to prove the cousin relationship by providing relevant ID documents that prove that you are one family and you received your cousin as a temporary guest and you are not subleasing.

On the other hand, if your cousin has a bachelor’s residence place, he may submit any document or proof of that residence place that he has to show that he is not permanently living with you and your husband.

Dear Questioner,

With reference to your inquiry, kindly be informed that as per the given info, I do believe that Al Wasl personnel have suspected the sub-lease from some apparent reasons.

Also, I have no idea why have you paid the fine if the said person is your cousin!!

Anyhow, you have 2 options to go for, at once:

1. To submit a proof as requested by Al Wasl personnel, which actually makes a lot of sense.

2. To submit a Tenancy Contract which proves that your cousin is residing somewhere else.

In such a case, you can easily get your cash back smoothly.

Other than that, you will have to abide by the community rules.

Kind Regards,
