Seeking compensation for false allegations and defamation

I am here on a tourist visa. A UAE local who is a sponsor of a company owned by my boss has had a falling out. I am not connected to this business in any way.

However, because I am connected with the foreign investor, the local has opened a criminal case against me. The allegations are completely unfounded, however, I am currently awaiting the prosecutor's verdict.

I have a travel ban and my passport is being held by the police. Once found innocent, can I claim defamation of character and claim my losses, holidays missed, lost business in my home country as I have not been able to return and tarnish my reputation?

With reference to your inquiry, be informed that, in order to provide you with the proper legal consultation, we shall firstly review the relevant documentation of the said case.

Having the mentioned file (documents) reviewed from our side will give us a better clearer understanding of the factual background, and whether suing the complainant is an option or not.

Anyhow, whenever the case comes to an end, forward the relevant documentation to us and we will take it from there.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for getting in touch with me on this and I hope the verdict is in your favour.

With regard to your query, I understand that you are seeking a way to get compensation in lieu of this malicious/false prosecution by the UAE Sponsor (provided the judgement is of acquittal).

I would like to state that the UAE Law has penal and civil provisions which relate to your situation wherein you can file a criminal case or a civil case to claim damages for the loss of business opportunity, mental agony...etc.

We have been privy to such cases and would be happy to assist you to claim compensation for all the agony you have gone through.

I would suggest that once the judgement is delivered thereafter we can have a short consultation and take this forward.

You may get in touch with me on hari@alnassaradvocates.com or 052-9495731.

Regards,

Hari Wadhwana
