Questions & Answers
Can the bank in the UAE initiate legal proceedings in my country for credit card debts?
I left the UAE due to the loss of my job and have credit card payments overdue. However, I found a new job in another country and was in touch with the bank to restructure my credit.
Due to the big monthly installments offer from the bank side, we couldn't reach an agreement. Now the bank is emailing me and threatening to take legal action against me in my current residence country.
Is it possible I may face legal problems in my current country if I don't agree to the bank's terms?
Thank you
Unfortunately, there are many agreements between the UAE and many countries in the world to prosecute evaders from paying debts and implement a judgment against them in their country of residence.
Therefore, try to hire a lawyer to reschedule the debt or pay it in installments.
