Do I have to pay my employer for the remaining notice period upon resignation?

Hello,

I hope I get the answer. I emailed my company a resignation letter during my probation period. As per my contract, my notice period is three months. However, due to depression, I only served one month.

In June, I had absences from work and they told me to stop working and sign the cancellation papers.

They said that I need to pay them for the remaining 42 days of my notice period.

Do I really need to pay them for those remaining days?

Thank you!

Dear Questioner,

According to the UAE Labour Law, if the employee does not serve the stipulated notice period mentioned in the employment contract, he or she has to compensate the employer by paying the amount equivalent to the period for which the notice period is not served.

As per the prevailing laws, you are obliged to pay the amount if you don't want to serve the notice period.

You may try to settle this issue with your employer.

Further, we will arrange a legal consultation session for a charge of 28$ if you want.
