Can my former employer sue me for writing a bad review online?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I recently wrote a bad review on Google about my former employer (a clinic). I wrote about its micromanagement and toxic work environment.

Everything I wrote was 100% true, and I did not violate any confidentiality or publish any false information.

Now, my former employer has threatened to sue me for defamation. They say I will be sentenced to jail or fined.

Is this legally true? Am I really in trouble?

Dear Questioner,

Defamation is saying something wrong (anything that can cause a bad image) about any individual or company in public; that is absolutely wrong information (which is not true).

Do you have the complete proof showing that what you said was true?

Then, this will be needed in order to sort out this problem.

Dear Questioner,

In general, yes you are in trouble.

Defamation is not based on the truth or falsity of events, but rather on the method of criticism.

However, even sharp and harsh comments may not break the law, and it depends on the use of certain words that break the law.

Dear Questioner,

If you have already mentioned the clinic and staff names on Google, it is considered a defamation offense, but it all depends on the statements posted and how much it could be effective or could damage the establishment's name and activities.
