The consequences of resigning as a housekeeper in Sharjah's 4-star hotel

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been working as a housekeeper in a 4-star hotel in Sharjah for the past three months. However, I am not comfortable with the work and the environment.

Can I resign from my job? Would I have to pay any money if I resign? Would there be a chance of getting banned?

Also, I haven't received my Emirates ID yet, and my passport is with my employer.

If they are holding my passport and they are demanding money, what should I do?

Dear questioner,

You can resign during the probationary period. Resignation fees can be imposed as compensation to the employer if your work contract stipulates that.

As for the passport, they are not entitled to keep it for processing the visa.

Is there anything in your contract that states that you will be paid upon resignation?

You can resign during the probationary period, but a no-objection certificate must be taken from the employer so that you are not subject to a ban regarding paying money upon resignation.

This matter requires reviewing your employment contract first
