1
Q: I have lent money to my friend multiple times over the last year with cheques as a guarantee.
Unfortunately, the cheque expired 2 days ago and he has not paid 90% of the money since he says he has no funds anymore.
I have bank statements to prove the transfer to his account. I need your advice to see if I can raise a court case against him and what will the process be.
Thanks

Verbal agreement gone wrong: seeking repayment of misused funds from a co-worker

2
Q: Dear sir/madam,
I entered into a business venture with my co-worker, but we only had a verbal contract. I gave him 100k QR, but he lied and said he was sending the money to his mother for a lending business.
Unfortunately, he actually invested it in a pyramid scam.
Do I have a chance to win my case and obligate him to pay me back the remaining 66k QR?
My only evidence is WhatsApp messages, bank transactions showing that I sent him the money, and his bank transactions showing that he sent money to my account.
What should I do now?

A friend borrowed money and won't pay back. What to do?

3
Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
I lent Dh35,000 to a friend in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when he was under financial stress.
Now, when I ask him to repay the loan, he either does not pick up my calls or tells me that he is still not in a position to return the money. I also have a husband and the money is important to me.
What can I do to get my money back?
I have WhatsApp conversations and some remittance receipts from when he asked me for the money.
I paid him in cash. Can I file a police complaint?
Is there any other way to get my money back? I don't want to get him in trouble, but I also really need him to return my money. What should I do?

Friend owes me money and gave me a blank check. What are my legal options?

1
Q: Hi,
I had loaned money to a friend a few years ago, and he promised to return it as soon as possible. It has been more than two years, and I have not received the money yet.
I have a blank check that he gave me as security, and it is not dated.
I want to know if there is a legal way to get my money back. If I deposit the check in the bank and it bounces, or if he has closed his bank account, what will the consequences be?

Are WhatsApp messages and bank receipts valid evidence against a scammer friend?

1
Q: Hello!
I got scammed by my friend. She asked me to give her money, promising to return it, but when I asked for my money, she refused to give it back.
There’s no contact between us except for WhatsApp messages, and I transferred the money to her via bank (I have the bank receipts).
A few days later, I discovered that she scams many people like this, including her colleagues. She claims that she’s broke but uses this money in stock trading.
Everyone is afraid to come forward because they don’t want to spend money on a case they believe they will never win. People around me told me that without a written agreement, I can’t go to court because I will definitely lose. They said, “You don’t have any solid evidence.”
However, I have WhatsApp messages and know three people whom she scammed and took thousands from. What do you advise me to do?
Should I go to court, or should I let it go because I’ll never win?

View allHow can I vacate my tenant if the rental agreement ends before the eviction notice deadline? 0
My Dubai tenant's rental agreement is ending by the end of September 2024 and the completion of 12 months of legally served Eviction Notice is the end of December 2024.
I have two questions:
(a) Can I send a rent increase notice 3 months before as the rent has increased as per the RERA rent calculator?
(b) The second question is, do I have to renew the rental agreement for 3 months (until December 2024) or not?
Thank you.

How can I reach a settlement with the bank for a mortgage of a jointly owned property? 0
I have a jointly owned property in Abu Dhabi. The mortgage was defaulted on as I had to leave the property with my children following an assault by my ex-husband. He left the country in 2018 and never paid the mortgage.
As I was in the country, the bank filed a criminal case against me, and I was sentenced to 3 years. I won the appeal against the bank and then filed another criminal case a few months later in Dubai. Again, I won and paid a fine.
In 2019, the bank started a civil case against me and my ex-husband to have the property repossessed. However, at the time of the purchase of the property, there were no Title Deeds, the bank requires this.
I cannot give them the Title Deeds to sell the property and pay back the amount owed to them as my ex-husband refuses to provide a POA. The bank has filed another criminal case against me only for our jointly owned property.
I wish to resolve this and pay off the bank and receive any money left from the sale. How can I resolve this issue of the Title Deeds?

Can a real estate agency hold a percentage of a property sale until transfer is done? 0
A real estate agency has signed an MOU stating that a 10% security deposit from the buyer and the seller will be kept in the real estate agency and will be released upon transferring the property.
The transfer of the property was blocked due to the court order.
According to my colleagues, the real estate agency is not a trustee and they are not allowed to have taken my security check in the first place, is this correct?
