An employer withholds the passport of an employee. How to get it back?

I have an absconding case.
My employer got my passport and he does not want to give it to me.
I do not want to leave the UAE.

It is illegal for your employer to keep your passport.
In fact, employers in the UAE who withhold workers' passports can be jailed and fined up to 20,000 dirhams.
If your employer keeps your passport and refuses to return it to you, you can go to the nearest police station, or you can go to your embassy in the country to file a complaint.
