Withholding passport by the employer after cancellation
Can I sue my employer for not giving me back my passport?
I requested the contract cancellation which I was granted at the labour office, but my employer refused to handover the cancellation paper after I exceeded my 30 days grace period.
Dear Questioner,
It is against the law to keep an employee's passport in possession during the employment period and after the end of the employment agreement.
You can place a complaint at the Ministry of Labour and they will advise you on how to proceed further.
