How to know the reasons why the bank froze my accounts and release it?
Dear Sir/ Ma'am,
My bank in the UAE has suddenly frozen/blocked my credit card and both my accounts without any prior intimation/information.
After taking up the bank several times, the bank informed me that this has been done upon the instructions of the Central Bank and there's no reason given.
It has been more than a month and the status quo is maintained. I urgently need to access my accounts since I am in urgent need of funds for medical and personal reasons.
I do not have any previous cases nor any pending fines, civil/criminal cases, etc and I have always been very prompt in all my payments for more than 27 years.
My questions are:
1) Why have my accounts and card frozen/ blocked (without my intimation)?
2) When will they be unblocked/released? (these are my life savings).
3) Can I travel back to the UAE safely without any action taken against me and my family? (presently I am out of the country).
Thank you very much for your kind advice.
My best regards
Dear querist,
Thank you for your query.
Where are you currently located?
Freezing of assets and bank accounts usually happens once the bank files a case against the debtor and the case is already in execution.
Kindly contact us at our number to discuss it further.
Thank you
The reasons may be not updating the data or the expiration of the identity, a dormant account on which transactions do not occur, or you have any debts to any party.
You can lift or unfreeze the bank account of all banks through the following:
- Through the bank's application (whether the GAL application or the bank's online application)
- Through the bank's ALA service phone
- By visiting one of the bank's branches

Hi,
Pursuant to your first and second queries, you will have to write directly to the central bank asking them to provide the reason and details.
For the third question, if you don't have any case or travel ban, then you can easily travel to the UAE.
We can assist you with checking the existence of any case or travel ban you can write to us by email.
Thanks
