Questions & Answers
How to avoid the complications arising out of losing a signed cheque?
If someone lost a cheque that is signed, what should he do to avoid all the complications related to that?
Dear user,
In such a case, you may file a police complaint with all the details pertaining to the cheque in the jurisdiction where it was lost.
The Bearer may submit the complaint providing the details such as amount, bank, name of the drawee, and so on.
After that, the Police would submit the request to the relevant bank to stop payment of the cheque so that if it hasn't been cashed yet, the bank will not pay the cheque if it is to be deposited or cashed in the near future. This procedure is as per Article 625 of the Commercial Transaction Law of the UAE.
