Can the landlord ask for rent increase 77 days prior to contract end date?
Hi,
My landlord asked for an increase in rent 77 days prior to the contract's end date. He also asked for more than the amount that is allowed by the RERA calculator.
Since it is close to the limit of 90 days, if I go for the option of complaint via DLD/RDC, do I have a valid case for asking for the contract to be renewed under old terms?
Or is there a chance that the court will allow the landlord to increase the rent by what is allowed for by the RERA calculator?
Thank you

Dear Questioner,
Pursuant to the query, we can help you in this regard.
The landlord should increase the rent as per the RERA calculator and should give proper notice on time.
Further, we need to see the tenancy contract and see the dates to give you proper advice.
Kindly contact us by phone.
Thank You.

Hi,
For any change in the contract, either party has to give at least 90 days' notice.
Since he failed to do so, the contract will be renewed under the existing terms and conditions. He cannot force you to increase the rent.

Yes, you do have a valid case.
Please arrange to call us to discuss this further in detail.
